A new opt-in service between Facebook and Amazon launched yesterday fusing the power of the world’s largest product recommendation engine with a social network boasting 500 million very robust profiles.
Although many details are still to be revealed, it is clear that both sites will be heavily cross-pollinating each other with user purchases, recommendations, and of course “likes.”
For marketers who sell products that Amazon would stock, this is yet another reminder that Facebook is increasingly becoming a necessary digital store front.
One important thing to point out (per Techcrunch) is that Amazon will not be sharing purchase information with Facebook nor will they be able to contact your Facebook friends.
